This is a rare occurrence, but it may be an option for those who have worked hard for their high-management position and want to get an MBA to expand their career options.

Consider this advice from CareerJournal:

Schools normally require undergraduate degrees for their full-time and part-time M.B.A. programs. But some executive M.B.A. programs will occasionally admit a seasoned manager without much formal education.

We’re very selective and generally want to see that the person had a couple of years of undergraduate courses and quit college for a good reason, such as starting a new business, as Bill Gates did, or returning home to help run a family business,” says Marci Armstrong, associate dean for graduate programs at Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business in Dallas. “I find that these students become very loyal and active alumni. Their executive M.B.A. credential may mean more to them than it does to other students because they don’t have an undergraduate degree.”

Other major schools, including the University of North Carolina and Georgia State University, also sometimes make room for talented executive M.B.A. applicants who never finished college. “They almost always turn out to be wonderfully engaged students,” says David Forquer, the head of Georgia State’s executive program. “In 1998, our one nondegree was our top student and is now quite senior at a major company.”

Students without formal education may also consider earning business certificates instead of going straight into the MBA program. Educational certificates are commonly available online and can serve to give a student quite a bit of education in a specific area of business.

Congratulations! You are now an official college student and the real journey to complete your education has just begun. Distance learning can sometimes be stressful, frustrating and lonely but it can also be the most fun, interesting and enlightening time in your life. As a distance-learning student you are constantly challenged with each assignment and your learning capabilities are stretched to the limit in order to accomplish immeasurable educational goals. Being a distance-learning student myself, I learned that being armed with useful information is the key to surviving and obtaining distance learning achievement. Here are five ways on how to be successful in completing your distance learning education.

Time management/organization – Time management and organization is the most important ingredient to becoming a successful distance-learning student. As a distance learning student, it can be difficult at times to juggle the responsibilities of career and family while trying to balance college courses and class assignments effortlessly. Investing in a day planner or organizer strictly for your class courses will help keep time management of your college courses in perspective. This will also eliminate crunch time and overbooking of other family and/or career responsibilities. Ensure that you are allotting enough time in your schedule for study time. Most distance learning courses take a lot of discipline, individual reading and intense comprehensive in order to grasp the concept of the assignment. Therefore, ensuring that you are allotting enough time in your schedule for study time is imperative. Keep your daily and school organizer together, so when you are checking your daily schedule, your school planner is right there as a constant reminder.

Read and reread syllabus – The class syllabus is your guideline and foundation of any college course and can make or break your success in passing the class. Because a distance learning course has limited restrictions on actual “in class” time, the syllabus is made of specific course information that can help guide you through the course without any added headaches. The instructors put a lot of time in designing distance learning courses therefore, read the syllabus carefully and pay special attention to grading systems, extra credit opportunities and assignment due dates. The syllabus should be the first thing you place in your day “school” planner along with writing down each and every assignment due date and reading homework (if applicable). Once again, your syllabus is the most important piece of paper you will receive from your distance-learning course therefore keep this information handy at all times during your duration of the course.

Know your instructors schedule and available “office” hours – Most instructors distance – learning instructors are limited on availability to their students therefore, knowing your instructor’s accessibility will be invaluable during the time you are taking their course. Also, be sure to check the syllabus for your instructors e-mail address and prefer mode of communication. Some instructors are real sticklers on time constraints so knowing your instructor’s schedule will save a lot of time when it comes to communicating with him or her.

Utilize online libraries – A distance-learning student does not have the luxury of utilizing the college library unlike on-campus students, therefore they must rely on online libraries to accommodate their research. Most colleges have online libraries available to distance learning students especially if the school has a real strong distance-learning program. So check with your college or instructor on how to utilize the college online library system. If not, there are a few good online libraries currently on the web. Some of the good ones are; Questia and The Library Spot. Also, check with the local college in your area about getting access to utilize their library. Some local community colleges allow distance learning students’ limited access to their campus library during regular semesters.

Participate in discussion and chats- Participation is the other key to becoming a successful distance-learning student. Online discussions are used to talk about current assignment or chat with other students in the class about an upcoming project. Most online chats and discussions are simulated like an online study group on which you can bounce ideas among classmates and get answers to questions on assignments or readings.

Distance learning can be challenging at times, but can also be a very educational and truly amazing learning process. If you follow some of these key pointers in achieving distance-learning success, you could possibly come out on top as a successful distance-learning student.

<input type="hidden" name="postContent_0" value="

Throughout the course, students will be required to make a minimum of weekly posts to the discussion board. In large part, the quality of interaction on the discussion board is how a student’s class participation grade will be derived. All of these posts will be in the full class discussion forum. Each week on the Discussion Board, starting with Week 2, you will see 3 to 4 questions that you are required to discuss with everyone. There will be FIVE graded full-class discussions during the course. These discussions will be more general and theoretical in nature, much like a general class discussion in a residential setting.

Each student is required to make at least ONE substantive original post (thread) for each of the questions and at least TWO short interaction/reply posts to two other student’s original posts. However, each student may also make more than the required posts. You are encouraged to talk with one another as much as possible.

Each Discussion Board requires a minimum of an original post (at least 200–250 words answering the questions given) and the two smaller interaction/reply posts (50–100 words). While students are encouraged to participate more actively in the learning activities, only the original and interaction/reply posts will count toward the grade.

All original Discussion Board posts are due on Wednesdays by 11:59 p.m (ET). All interaction/replies to discussion board posts are due on Saturdays by 11:59 p.m (ET).

If you do not respond by these time deadlines, your interaction will not “count” (Blackboard records the date and time!) and, therefore, you will not receive points toward the grade for that assignment. But this will be a much more valuable experience if students post soon after the questions are announced. Imagine a classroom where the professor asked a question, but no one ever responded or waited for 3 days to respond! Contrast that with a vibrant classroom discussion where students are engaging each other and the professor in dialogue on a particular topic.

Enthusiastic agreement and respectful disagreement with others in the class is expected. Disrespect (e.g., name-calling, “Bible thumping,” sermonizing, hostility, etc.) will not be acceptable communication on the discussion boards and severe final course grade reduction will be the consequence if it occurs. Learning to accurately communicate beliefs, attitudes, and emotions about important issues is a crucial part of personal and professional development, particularly when others don’t see them as you do.

I personally got suckered into a for profit university in 1991 with then Fort Lauderdale College. They gave me the spiel that they were in the process of becoming a university, regionally accredited, and their athletic teams becoming part of the NCAA. Well, only 1 out of the three was realized. In 1994, they became Florida Metropolitan University. In 2007, they changed their name to Everest University.

I am actually starting now researching schools for doctoral programs in psychology. Argosy University and Walden University are two of the leading candidates.
Schools that I will ignore like the plague are University of Phoenix. While investigating schools I stopped by a campus and the admissions rep was so eager to get me to enroll right then and there. She even persisted by calling and emailing me to see if I made a decision. A normal, traditional university does not put on this type of high pressure sales technique on their prospective students. That actually turned me off, and got them taken out of consideration.

Take the time to investigate your school because it is an “investment” in your future.

That actually turned me off, and got them taken out of consideration.

Take the time to investigate your school because it is an “investment” in your future.

Far too many college students are struggling with their classes lately. The list of reasons why ranges from mean professors to far too much partying. The real reason, however, is students lack the necessary study skills to succeed at the college level. Every student has their own unique learning style which needs to be optimized in order for it to “stick”.

Compare two students trying to learn the metric table, as an example. One possesses the ability to quickly and naturally grasp the importance of good study skills and is able to comprehend metric conversion and the metric conversion calculator. While the other lags behind in their metric conversion table coursework, facing challenges and struggling because they don’t know were to start. Students need to get their minds focused on learning a new piece of information on the metric table every day in order to properly learn it.

A college student must realize that good metric calculator and metric conversion study skills begin with their level of attitude and enthusiasm for learning. The student with good study habits understands it takes time to memorize the metric conversion calculator. Studying the metric calculator for a few minutes here and there will not lead to success. Here are my seven ways to better your study skills:

As you are read assigned text, write and keep notes on important points. Review these notes daily.

Studies show that using 3 x 5 cards to review important terms improves your memory on studied material.

Create study activities that you will perform every week. Take time for a weekly session where you write down important facts on a sheet of paper using only your memory.

Start a study skills lesson plan for each subject. These lesson plans should include test taking ideas that you can use for each class.

Never let test anxiety creep into your thoughts. Try to spend more time preparing for each test to relieve some of that anxiety.

The most helpful study resource is your professor or tutor. Never be afraid to ask for help when you need it.

Take notes on important facts and review them the morning of your test. If you studying a math or science course, write out all of the important formulas on one sheet of paper and review these formulas the morning of your next test.

Finally, the best way to pass that difficult math test and ace knowing the metric conversion table is to maintain a positive attitude. Never let your negative feelings get in your way. If you go into that big test expecting to do great, there is a good chance you will do great. Belief in failure only leads to failure. Developing new study skills each day and following through leads to a successful learning strategy and better grades.

There has been a growing trend of online education with the ever increasing e-learning resources on the Internet. With the advent of Internet technology, the World Wide Web presents a somewhat elaborate picture of online training and educational institutes catering to the specific needs of the interested candidates who are into online education and training for reinforcing their career prospects.

The students are now well exposed to the vivid and intricate world of academic opportunities at the web: talking about numerous online degrees and diplomas from a host of different educational institutes. Most of them advertise for a somewhat easier way to success, going through a less intensive course requirement with home based classroom sessions, involving minimal credit participation. This is however, too good to be true and most candidates who seek online educational training as a career backup usually fall prey to such enticing revelations on the Internet.

The students should therefore steer clear of such unaccredited colleges and institutes that offer online education at unbelievably low credit involvements. Ideally speaking, a regular and accredited institution offers online course requirements at par with regular on site degree programs in conventional colleges and universities. The Accreditation Organization works in the public sector with approval from the Ministry of Education in the United States of America and conducts extensive surveys to review the overall educational and degree standards offered by these online academic institutes.

Without a proper accreditation, which is a standardized certification of the undertaken academic training, it is extremely hard for a candidate to utilize an online awarded degree in the regular job market. An unaccredited degree doesn’t provide any basis for comparison for the recruiters to assess the position of the applicant with respect to the other competitors. Hence, accreditation organizations play a very crucial role in guiding the mass of online academic aspirants for picking out a proper institute to get the desired academic training. Though these accreditation organizations in the USA are mostly non governmental, they enjoy the mentorship of the USDE (United States Department of Education) and CHEA (Council for Higher Education Accreditation) and require referrals from these governing bodies before being able to review the academic standards of online educational institutes.

The recently amended Higher Education Opportunity Act not only signifies, but also revises certain key aspects of the relationship between the Federal Government and the Accreditation Organizations in USA. The law implicates changes in the governmental requirements for accepting newer areas under accreditation in the higher educational sector. The law also proposed some additional requirements to be implemented for those areas that are directly under the jurisdiction of federal scrutiny. The final outcome of these new impositions will soon be available to the general public as per the specifications of the act.

With increasing demand for academic and professional training to keep pace with the career demands in the fast moving world, a large number of diploma and accreditation mills are creating dangerous and enticing scams on the Internet. There are indeed quite a number of genuine accredited colleges, like, American College, Baker College, California State University – Dominguez Hills, Charles Sturt University, Capella University, Empire State College and Golden Gate University, offering quality online education and training to the students in USA. These award degrees that are well accepted by the organizations in both public and private sectors, genuinely helping the students to upgrade their careers.

So you want to get your MBA from a top tier MBA school? How do you go about differentiating yourself from the countless other applicants that are in the same boat as you? Well here is where I can help you. I myself went through this process and attended one of the top 5 MBA schools in the world. Having been through the process and attended I can tell you what the schools (or at least mine in particular) are looking for and what you can expect from the MBA application process.

Know what you want and why

First things first, narrow down the field. I can’t count the number of times people have approached me asking for information about my school and my MBA. They always want to know “How do I get in?”, “What GMAT score do I need?” etc. The first thing I ask is, “Why do you want an MBA?”. I get answers from wanting more money to starting their own businesses. I knew a guy that wanted an MBA to simply boost his resume and wanted to put as little effort into actually getting one as he could. Smartly he paid very little for his MBA but he got what he wanted.

For MBAs it is true that you get what you pay for. You may learn just as much from a less ranked school but you may not have the networking, professors, class choices and prestige as the higher ranked B-school. Determine what you want out of your MBA and it will determine what you put in (time and money). This may be a top tier school or something else.

Now that you are set in that you want the most out of your MBA you need to decide what you’d like to focus on. Just like undergrad the top MBA schools are known for different concentrations. The University of Chicago GSB is known as an excellent financial school but just down the street is Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management that is known for marketing. Pick the schools that match your educational profile and goals.

Now we are cooking. You have decide that an MBA from a top tier B-school is right for you and you have narrowed down the list to the few that match your profile. Let’s get to applying.

Take your short list of B-schools and get all their application material and look at when the applications are due. Additionally look and see if they have rolling admissions. If they do then the key is to get your application in as early as possible. You are then competing with far fewer applications and more openings. Most of the applications will be similar in that you need reference letters, essays, GMAT, undergrad transcripts, interviews etc. The number and variety will differ but in general the idea is the same. They want to know as much about who you are that they can. Assuming you get accepted you will represent them as a marketing tool the rest of your career and they do not want to have bad PR.

With that being said no one component is more important than the other per se but that doesn’t mean that any one of the is unimportant. It is you as a whole they want to get to know.

GMAT

Lets get this one out of the way first as it is the one most people stress about. My advice. Don’t stress this. Certainly a good score helps and you shouldn’t blow this off but don’t go hog wild spending all your time trying to get 10 more points while neglecting all the rest of the application. Some schools probably have a minimum that they are willing to accept but if you compensate that with other strong components you will do fine. In my opinion you should simply pick up one of those books with practice tests etc and brush up on your skills and take the practice exams.

Interviews

At some point you are going to have to meet someone from the school. At some institutions they have current MBA students conduct interviews, others have alumni, admin staff etc. Any way you look at it, it is the same. They are seeing if you fit their criteria and expectations of their school. My advice here is to be yourself. Walk in with confidence and enthusiasm and sell yourself. One question they will undoubtedly ask is “Why an MBA and why our school?”. Make sure you prepare your answer for this and do your homework about the school and program. Many schools MBA programs are slightly different and in some cases radically different. Talk about these points and your preferences and demonstrate that you are serious and interested in their program. As far as why an MBA you already did that as part of your prep work from earlier.

Essays

Most MBA applications will also require some sort of essay. These vary greatly in both number and content. Some are more along the lines of “Why do you want an MBA?” to more bizarre ones like “If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be and why?” I didn’t spend much time writing my essays but I did think a lot about what I wanted to write. I really struggled with writing something that “they wanted to hear” vs. what I felt was my answer. In the end I wrote what I wanted and not what I thought they wanted to hear. I guess this approach really worked out in my favor since I was accepted. I’d suggest the same for any prospective MBA student. Be yourself and answer honestly.

Reference Letters

I just wanted to write a quick note on reference letters. A huge plus is if you can get someone who earned his or her MBA from the same program and you know from a professional level. Try to avoid friends and family unless there is a special circumstance. Most schools will ask for very specific references, such as current employer, etc. Lastly give your referrer plenty of time and all the material to complete the letter. Most people are more than willing to help given you isn’t burdening them with too little time.

There are of course a few odds and ends such as the application and resume but you should already have these. The application is generally factual such as prior work experience, education, and community work where again don’t hesitate to sell yourself.

In the end do your homework, and spend time on all aspects of the process but most importantly do it for your own reasons. Assuming all goes well you’ll be off and studying for your MBA courses gaining valuable training for your future. Good Luck.

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is the entrance exam for many graduate level degrees in business, management, and finance, including the MBA. Most schools require the GMAT in order to get accepted into their program, and the score is weighed heavily. The reason it is taken so seriously is because it puts everyone on an equal basis. Undergraduate degrees vary widely between schools and departments. The professional career of one applicant can be quite different from that of another. The GMAT is the main way a school can get a direct comparison between two applicants of dissimilar backgrounds.

Preparing for the Test
The GMAT tests the student’s quantitative and verbal skills. The skills are based off a high school level, so neither engineering skills nor an English major are required to be successful on the exam. Below is an overview of the types of questions that the test contains. A full study guide with practice exams should be used before attempting the test for the first time.

Quantitative
The quantitative section of the GMAT is made up of problem solving and data sufficiency questions. The problem solving questions and data sufficiency questions are mixed together, so you will never be sure which will appear next. There are 35 questions in this section, and 75 minutes are allowed to complete it.

Problem Solving
The problem solving section of the GMAT consists of questions that the examinee must answer mathematically. Most are in the story problem format, where a brief real-life situation is set up and there is one correct solution. The problems include the use of arithmetic, including percentages and fractions; algebra; and geometry, including areas and volumes. Conversions between units are not used and do not need to be memorized.

Test taking strategy: The answers are presented in numerical order, which assists in guessing when the examinee does not know how to work the problem. Start with the middle answer and plug it into the problem. If the result is too large, look only at the smaller answer choices left. If the result is too small, look only at the larger answer choices left. That means that on problems that lend themselves to plugging in, the examinee will at most have to plug in three possible solutions, rather than a full five.

Data Sufficiency
The data sufficiency section contains a problem similar to the problem solving section; however, the problem itself does not give enough information to fully answer the question. The problem is followed by two statements. The examinee’s job is to determine whether they have enough information to find a solution using the stated problem and the statements. The possible answers for these types of problems will be
• Statement 1 is sufficient to answer the question
• Statement 2 is sufficient to answer the question
• Each statement alone is sufficient to answer the question
• Both statements combined are sufficient to answer the question
• The statements combined are not sufficient to answer the question
Like the problem solving section, these problems require knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, and geometry. The goal of these problems is to determine whether or not there is enough information to answer the question, and NOT to determine whether or not the answer is correct.

Test taking strategy: Look at each of the two options individually and see if they are sufficient to answer the question. If either is you can limit the options available to choose from to be the one that is sufficient or that each is sufficient on its own. If neither is sufficient individually then look at the two combined and see if that will give an answer.

Verbal
The verbal section tests basic rules of English as well as the examinee’s ability to understand what they are reading and make logical conclusions. The verbal section is made up of sentence correction, critical reasoning, and reading comprehension questions. The three types of questions will be mixed together, however each reading comprehension sequence is made up of three of four questions and those questions will always follow each other immediately. There are 41 questions in this section and 75 minutes are allowed to complete it.

Sentence Correction
The sentence correction section contains a few sentences with one, or a portion of one, underlined. The examinee must determine if the underlined portion is proper English, or if not, which of the answer choices would turn the sentence into proper English. Common mistakes that must be caught and corrected in the sentences include subject/verb agreement and tense agreement.

Test taking strategy: Ignore the first answer choice when reading through the options. The first choice is always the same as the one that is actually in the sentence problem, and reading it again just takes away time.

Critical Reasoning
Critical reasoning is a short paragraph that contains a logical argument. The answer choices ask about what can be concluded from the paragraph using logic.

Test taking strategy: Any outside knowledge about the subject should be ignored. If it can not be concluded solely from the information given, then it is not the correct answer for the purpose of the exam.

Reading Comprehension
The reading comprehension section contains a few paragraphs and then a series of questions regarding the passage. The passage will remain visible throughout all of the questions so the examinee can refer back to it. This section will not include logical conclusions, but will require the reader to put the pieces together to understand the larger picture being presented.

Test taking strategy: The notepad can be used to write a couple words describing the key concepts of each paragraph, and an indication of where names of people or specific items appear for quick reference later while answering the questions.

Analytical Writing
Two essays must be written analyzing an issue. Thirty minutes are allowed to complete each essay.

Argument Analysis
The argument analysis presents a couple paragraphs that argue for or against some subject. The job of the examinee is to read the argument and decide if the argument is contains sufficient information to uphold it, or if it is lacking in critical information. The examinee must then present their analysis in an essay.

Issue Analysis
The issue analysis presents a couple paragraphs that have an issue with two sides. Each side may be clearly presented or it may be implied. The examinee must choose one side of the issue and present an essay supporting their position.

Test taking strategy: Either the noteboard or the textbox can be used to create an outline for the essay. All the points the examinee wants to cover can be typed out and later reorganized into a flow that makes sense. A few more details can be stuck in between points until the examinee has created the analysis they want within their mind. Then it is only a matter of turning the points into complete sentences in order to finish the essay.

Taking the Test
Once the studying is complete, the exam will be taken at an official testing center. These centers are located around the country and follow detailed procedures.

Registering
Registration is completed online. The examinee can search for testing centers near their location and then find out what times are available for testing. The test can be completed any day a testing center is open, there are no set dates set aside for nationwide testing. The web site will ask for your personal information and payment. Be sure that you use your official name exactly as it is written on your identification such as a driver’s license.

Checking In
To check in you will be required to present photo identification that includes a signature. A driver’s license is the most common form, but a list of all acceptable forms are given on the website during registration. After the testing center has identified the examinee they give the examinee a paper with the GMAT rules spelled out. After reading through that the applicant will have their picture and fingerprint taken. Everything the examinee brought with them to the testing center will be stored in a locker. Only identification and the locker key will be allowed into the test room. Even car keys must be left behind.

Entering the Test Room
Each time the examinee leaves and reenters the test room their fingerprint will be retaken and the computer will attempt to match it with the earlier print taken. If the fingerprints do not match, then identification will have to be shown again. The test room itself is soundproof, with one wall of glass where a proctor sits and watches everyone within the room. Cameras also videotape everything within the room and are displayed real-time to the same proctor. Each examinee, which may be taken any exam offered by the testing center, not just the GMAT, will be in individual cubicles with a computer and some desk space.

Selecting Schools
Once the computer is running the exam the examinee can verify the personal information and then select which schools the score should be sent to. The schools selected at the testing center are free, schools added later through the online interface will have an additional cost.

Computer Adaptive
The exam itself is adaptive. That is, each question asked is based on the answer to the previous question. If the examinee answers a question correctly, the following question will be harder. If the examinee answers a question incorrectly, the following question will be easier. This allows the computer to narrow in on the precise abilities of the examinee.

The Noteboard
Each examinee is given a noteboard to use with the exam. The noteboard contains a few pages of plastic-covered sheets of paper. Dry erase pens are used along with it to work math problems or make notes about verbal problems. Small writing is difficult, so practicing exams by writing largely or getting a dry erase board it useful. If the examinee runs out of sheets they can raise their hand and the proctor will bring them more.

Taking Breaks
Each time the examinee reaches a breakpoint in the test the proctor must come in and escort that person out. The proctor knows to come when the examinee raises their hand. After a short break the examinee must once again have their fingerprints taken to get back into the testing room.

Getting the Score
As soon as the test is complete the examinee is given a choice to keep the score or cancel it. If it is cancelled the examinee will never find out how they did, but no schools will be sent any results. If the score is accepted then the examinee gets the qualitative and verbal scores immediately at the computer. The score ranges between 200 and 800. The essays are scored later by the combination of a human and a computer program. That score ranges between 0 and 6, and is given separately from the other two scores. When that score is available the examinee receives an email with a link to a page containing a full report of their exam results.

Once the examinee has their score, they are ready to begin applying to business schools.

I am trying a new strategy this semester.

I haven’t really been looking at the grades I have been receiving.

It allows me to be more focused on the classes and not to worry a lot about the grades. If I get an email from one of my professors, I will read it and then check my grade but that has not happened so far. I have taken classes in the past where I received an A, but did not learn anything. So I do not place too much of an emphases on grades. Although, it is still in the back of my mind.

Some people may shy away from the intense 8 week lessons but all in all they work out pretty good. After these 8 weeks, I will have another 3 hours to my name. I now have 18 credit hours to my name.

The Fall 2008 semester has ended on December 16. I am registered to take PSYC 371 Theories in Counseling & Psychotherapy and COUN 501 – Counselor Prof Identity/Function/Ethics.

Some people may shy away from religious colleges, but going over the course plan, after the first two years, you really do not have to take religious courses unless you choose them as an elective. These past 8 weeks have been pretty good. I have gone to religious institutions my whole life. It has been proven that religious educational institutions provide a better education than the other schools.

I do have two papers I need to write. Both have to be 10 pages and written in APA style. I try to be diligent in my studies and assignments but sometime with a family and working full-time it is hard.

But I have to say this, with some of my classes at Liberty University, even though the paper may have a deadline, the professors have been understanding.

And when I get tired and question why I am doing what I am doing, I get great comments of encouragement back from my professors and so I keep going.

What a semester the Fall 2008 semester has been. Here I completed week 8 PSYC 365, Human Learning and I am exhausted both mentally and physically.

That is one plus of classes at Liberty University, the 8 week classes which allows me to take three 3 classes. One of the classes actually overlaps because of the way the subterms are scheduled. By the end of the semester, I earn 9 hours of college credit. If I can continue going to school full time, I will finish in spring 2012, enabling me to enroll immediately into a doctoral program.

The only thing I sometimes wonder is if I can continue on the pace I have begun. Sometimes, going to school full time as well as working full time is challenging. Most of the time I am doing my class work while I am at work but sometimes it is harder to do than others. However, I do give my clients my full attention whenever they come into my office. Sometimes my employees just want to stop by and talk, especially if they are having a hard day.

That is one of the reasons why I chose Psychology. So far, I have only taken one Psychology class. I am trying to get the basics done first. The next two years, I want to devote to expanding on my research in post traumatic stress disorder in children.

My next goal is to create a psychology practice under my corporation, bring in a licensed psychologist, and create my own internship within my company while working under the supervision of that licensed psychologist. In a competitive environment with an economy that has tanked in 2008, creating your own opportunities will ensure my own job security.
